SLAMedia is a publication of the news for the Science Leadership Academy community. Writers come from the student body in 10th, 11th, and 12th grades. We work in unison to create a functioning paper with biweekly postings on a variety of events.

Boys Basketball Win First Game of the Season

Boys Basketball start off the season with a win, 51-41, against CAPA, last Tuesday. Junior Sterling Perry scoring 15 points and Senior Jakobi Martin-Howard scoring 12.

After gaining a large lead in the third quarter, the reserve players were able to play the entire 4th quarter.

Senior and Captain Andrew Chalfan was pleased with the team’s performance, as they focused on running the plays and finding their identity as a team.

Boys Basketball Lose Pre-Season Scrimmage

Staff Writer

Science Leadership Academy’s boys basketball team lost 90-48 in a five-quarter pre-season scrimmage against Olney Charter High School on Thursday.

They played well, they were just outmatched. SLA boys basketball is only in division E, while Olney Charter High School is division B, which is significantly more competitive.

Despite losing their first scrimmage, they are optimistic about the season.

“In our division, we will do really well,” commented Senior Captain Andrew Chalfan. “This is a playoff year.”
